I SEE YOU

To the one who has a non-verbal child that is sick, I see you

  • I see you as you try to figure out what the ailment is…
  • I see you as you assess all the visible signs:
    • Are they running a fever?
    • Any rashes?
    • Any other visible signs? – Sore throat? Runny nose? Swollen glands? Etc?
    • You get the picture.
    • I see you.
  • I see you as you try to figure out the invisible signs…
    • Did something happen to them when you weren’t around?
    • Any changes in the environment? Staff? Med changes? etc…
  • I see you as you wonder if they have a:
    • Headache?
    • Toothache?
    • Earache?
    • Stomach ache?
    • Reflux?
  • I see you through the many sleepless nights of worry and questions…
  • I see you as you try to figure it out without them being able to tell you…

It’s hard as an infant or toddler, and my heart goes out to you moms and dads, but by adulthood…you figured it would get easier, right?!?

Truth is, most things do, but…there is no guarantee in this non-verbal world.

  • We try to provide ways:
    • Show me on your favorite animal where it hurts.
    • Provide pictures of body parts.
    • Provide an AAC device / Talker.

Sometimes, there is success, but other times, it is still a mystery, and prayer seems to be the only answer.

Prayers – for healing
             - for wisdom
             - for grace
             - for patience (if you dare ask for that, lol)
             - for peace through the storm

And Gratitude that the One who has promised is faithful and will bring you all through this challenging season.

I see you…you will make it!! You are not alone!

Today, I am grateful for health!

  • Grateful for getting to the other side.
  • Grateful for the giggles and laughter once again
  • Grateful for you, dear one, who has fought for your loved one.

I see you and am linking arms with you and sending hugs and prayers!
Thank you for fighting for your loved one…  I see you!
