One of my goals for this week of New Year’s is to begin to clean out my email – of all the thousands of garbage emails I get – Is anybody else with me?
By the way, am I the only one who ignores all those emails, as though I hope they all will get cleaned out on their own? LOL
I know some of you are diligent and keep up with emptying your emails daily. I want to say I am jealous of you, and maybe I am just a tad, but I am also thankful for your gift – it gives me hope! Perhaps it is reachable.
Does anyone else think, “I did not ask these people to send me emails – why, in heaven’s name, do I need to clean them out?!?” LOL… ROFL!!
It reminds me of those thoughts that attack our minds. How many of you get bombarded with a million thoughts a day, you know, the ones you didn’t ask for? The thoughts of anxiety, fear, doubt, etc. All those thoughts, like your emails, that you didn’t ask for but try to attach themselves to you. You know, the kind you think will dissipate but fill the cobwebs of your mind?
Let’s take it one step further, for those on this page who struggle with special needs kiddos – or – those on this page who deal with other chronic life issues – you know, “the emails we didn’t ask for” … those thoughts that things will never change, never get better…
Just like we need to clean out our emails (hopefully sooner than later) – we also need to take our thoughts captive (2 Corinthians 10:5) and throw out those thoughts that do not align with who God says we are and what He says. Just because every thought (i.e., email) is sent our way does not mean we must let it enter our lives. We need to remember not to be conformed to the pattern of this world but to be transformed by renewing our minds (Romans 12:2).
Philippians 4:8 in The Message Bible says: “Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious – the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard, saw, and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.”
Just like there are a few positive emails of the multitude of garbage, let’s make room to renew our minds.
Hopefully January will bring you some time to clean out the old – to make room for the new things headed your way!
We’ve got this!
