The Father’s Heart for US!

It had been a long two weeks of travel for Sam, and he was weary. We had traveled from Connecticut to Virginia to North Carolina to Alabama and back to North Carolina, visiting much-loved family along the way.

That Thursday, I woke up early and had my coffee and prayer time on the beautiful porch overlooking the pond; just the day before, we had traveled a full day from Alabama to North Carolina. Sam, who happens to be pretty much nonverbal with autism, had done amazingly well “people-ing” in Alabama with family. As I took my coffee to the living room, I looked up to see Sam leaving the bathroom and motioned for him to sit with me, thinking he was awake and ready for the day.

I instinctively put my arm around him to say “good morning,” as he slid in to sit next to me, and before I realized it, he was out cold. This sweet boy (young man) was wiped out and sound asleep, nestled in my arm.

I have to say this doesn’t happen often at his age, but as he rested, I could sense every muscle in his body relax, like he was safe and at peace.

That’s when I sensed the Father’s heart for us. I could almost hear God speak to me in that moment and say, “You see this love and comfort that you have for your son? How much more is my love for you?”

“When you are weary and burdened from the cares of the world, I long to be your Father and let you rest in my arms, releasing all your cares to Me.”

I’m not sure if any of you have sensed God in this way, but it was the most beautiful thing.

I believe His word to us today is one of comfort. When the day has been long, and you are weary from all that life has thrown at you – take a minute, rest in His arms, hear His heartbeat for you, leave all the cares with Him, and let Him refresh you!

Like a mother’s heart for her son, His love is immeasurably more! Reach out to Father God today and let Him take your burdens and refresh your soul. You will be surprised in His presence!  Love Ya! ❤

Matthew 11:28-30“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (NIV)
